The WoW Equipment Manager Coming in the next Patch

So, you’re thinking… phew… I made it through all that Patch 3.1 hoop-la. Now, I can get back to playing my Hunter to level 30. Well, folks, what you learn about WoW is when one Patch comes and goes, another one is right behind. The BLUES (that’s slang for Blizzard employees who post on the official WoW forums) have announced some details regarding Patch 3.1.2. Evidentially, there will be some tweaks to the visuals of the mounts in the argent tournament (not necessarily new player material). However, there will also be the long awaited Equipment Manager. Yippee!

But, Snarl, why do I want an equipment manager? Well, my friend, by now you’ve noticed your little toon has some versatility to it. Especially if you play a hybrid class like a Druid or Paladin. You may have noticed that you need different gear to do different things. So, if you’re being asked to TANK Ragefire Chasm, as say a Paladin, you may want to use one hand and a shield for the added armor points you will need. If you’re being asked to DPS, you might want to swing your Two Handed Weapon.

This is a minor adjustment you can do right away in the early levels of your Toon as long as you’ve visited your weapons master to train these skills up. Now, early on this is quite simple. However, as you move ahead into PvP, and more difficult instances and the like, you will want to have more than just different weapons for different situations. You’ll also want different sets of armor, trinkets and necklaces…you name it. You’ll be switching gear frequently.

Now some person thought to themselves, “Hey, it would be great if I could create gear sets and profiles for certain situations and with a click of a button all my items would switch up and I wouldn’t have to do drag and drop so much gear.” So, some industrious folk wrote some MODS that we’ve discussed before, like Outfitter and Item Rack.

Like all great MODS, Blizzard eventually will pull them into the game and use them. So, a bonefied WoW gear manager (aka Equipment Manager) is coming, maybe as soon as the next minor Patch, and I for one will be thrilled. I’m not a big fan of the current Mods, so hopefully *fingers crossed* Blizzard does a better job with this and we can have a cool new UI in the game.
