Surprisingly, we’ve received several questions from folks wondering about the reasoning behind the podcast reboot.
Initially, it was the cool way to revive a podcast that was nearing podfade (or in the midst of it). The term reboot has a very modern vibe for taking creative endeavors that have started to show their age and giving them an updated spin while giving the creators a chance to throw out ideas that no longer work.
After bouncing back and forth between different show ideas, both Mick and I agreed that the old format had run it’s course and re-hashing another class series was going to be frustrating with a lot of old material thrown in with some new terms, talents, and abilities. Instead, we thought we should grow the podcast with our most avid reader base, many of whom are no longer NEW players, but veteran players with nearly two years of playing experience.
So thus the reboot and the freedom to cover more advanced topics without having to focus on brand new learning experiences every week. Trust me, writing the show notes for an “educational WoW lesson” takes a tremendous amount of time and with the rate at which things are patched and/or changed, we’ve found ourselves with quite a list of things to re-hash.
Don’t get me wrong, we’ll still be covering new-player content and will still be podcasting with the new-player in mind. You won’t find leet speak here or a constant crunching of elitist jerks numbers. But you will find a greater mix of content that should provide information for EVERY World of Warcraft player out there.
So stay tuned for what we both agree is the better road to take. As we near two years of podcasting existence, we’re excited about this format and the freedom it gives us to produce a quality podcast on a more regular basis!
